Grade 6- Begin unit on Career Exploration.
6th grade students will be introduced to various career options as well as do research into careers that interest them.
Resources used: PowerPoint presentation and career web sites.

Explain why education and training plans are important to careers.
Standard - 13.1.8.A
Relate careers to individual interests, abilities, and aptitudes.



Grade 5- Continue collaborative writing project.
Student will continue to work on writing a story inspired by the illustrations in the Mysteries of Harris Burdick.
Library Information Concepts: Using images to inspire writing.
Competencies: Working together to develop a story. Using images to inspire thinking.
Common Core Standard:  CC: W.5.4 Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.


Grade 4 – Continue our dictionary unit. Work on work sheet #2.
Unit on dictionaries and their use.
We will go over dictionary use and do a worksheet for hands on experience.
Library information concepts: Selecting informational texts & literary non-fiction.
Competencies: Independently use various print and digital reference sources.


Grade 3 – Lesson on periodicals and their use for current events, research or enjoyment.


Grade 2 – Begin or look at Native American Literature. Read: Coyote by Gerald McDerrmott.
Library information concepts: Identifying Literary Elements.
Competencies: Identify characters and setting in story.
Explain plot in story.
Common Core Standard: CC.1.3.G


Grade 1  Olivia and the Missing Toy. We will read the story and take AR on story.
Library Information Concepts: Identifying author and illustrator roles.
Competencies: Define roles of author and illustrator.
Common Core Standard: CC.1.3.D
