Grade 6:   Maps and Atlases – Lesson on types and use of maps and atlases
Students will be shown various types of map and atlases. They will be given time to use these resources.


Grade 5:    Citing sources of information. Students will be shown how to cite sources of information and create a citation in the MLA style. They will understand need for citing sources and the dangers of plagiarism.
Competencies: Create a list of sources used.
Common Core Standard: CC.1.4.W (3-5)
Grade 4: A look at characters, plot and setting in a fiction story.
Competencies: Describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., a character’s thoughts, words, or actions).

Grade 3: A look at the different genres in fiction.

Grade 6   On-line Resources: Class will be shown the many resources available through Power Library as well as Grolier On-line.

Grade 5   On-line Resources: Class will be shown the many resources available through Power Library as well as Grolier On-line.

Grade 4   Dictionary Lesson –Review of dictionary use and how to use Guide Words. We will look up words and list the Guide Words that were used to find the assigned words.

Grade 3 A look at Non-fiction. Explore the world of information that awaits students in the non-fiction section of the library.

Grade 2 Types of books. Explore the various types of books found in a library.

Grade 1 Introduction to the OPAC. Students will be shown the use of the Destiny Library Card Catalog and given an opportunity to try to use it to locate books.
              
Kindergarten: Discuss the parts that make up a book. (Cover, spine, pages, etc.) Read: How Rocket Learned to Read.


Book Exchange classes for Cycle 5:

Grade 6 – Expand on on-line resources lesson allow for additional hands on time.
