Grade 6- Unit on encyclopedias, and their use.
Library information concepts: Selecting informational texts & literary non-fiction.
Competencies: Independently use various print and digital reference sources.

Grade 5- Continue collaborative writing project.
Student will continue to work on writing a story inspired by the illustrations in the Mysteries of Harris Burdick.


Grade 4 – Unit on dictionaries and their use.
We will go over dictionary use and do a worksheet for hands on experience.

Competencies: Independently use various print and digital reference sources.

Grade 3  Magazine lesson. We will look at the various types of magazines that the library subscribes to. We will discuss special care of magazines when checked out.

Grade 2
Begin unit on biographies. Read: Snowflake Bentley.

Grade 1  Caldecott Award Books. We will begin our look at different Caldecott Award and Honor books. We will read and discuss various Caldecott stories.

Authors and illustrators. A look at various picture books and the role of author and illustrator.
